Leadership Development Program

We consider our Leadership Development Program (LDP) to be an investment in the future leaders of our community, or as Marti called them, “los pinos nuevos.” Furthermore, we have crafted a curriculum that is balanced in both theory and experiential learning, while providing access to experts who share their experiences to help groom our fellows for future success. At its core, CAALE’s LDP consists of five main components:
1) Mentorship 2) Modules 3) Site Visits 4) Leadership Series and 5) Required Reading.

Mentorship
At the beginning of each cohort, every fellow is assigned a personal mentor. The basic requirement of the mentor program is to facilitate a minimum of two meetings per year between the mentor and mentee. Focus areas of the mentor-mentee relationship are centered on career planning, networking, skill development and more.
Modules

Our training modules utilize both experiential and traditional learning, and are designed  to help developing leaders master important leadership skills. Examples of our training modules  include a personality assessment (Myers-Briggs or DISC) workshop, public speaking/communication workshop, financial skills workshop and others.

Site Visits

Site Visits offer a unique opportunity for our fellows to tour a company’s office with a  small group of peers and gain insider knowledge about the industry directly from the professionals  within the organization. Examples of company site visits may include Google, Facebook, Evercore, Miami Marlins, Microsoft, Insight Investment, Republica of Havas and many others.

Leadership Series

The CAALE Leadership Series provides unique exposure to inspiring leaders and thought-provoking dialogue for our fellows. This unparalleled learning opportunity attracts renowned local, national, and global leaders and produces a forum to exchange ideas across politics, business, culture, and society. Past leaders have included: Vice President of Global Marketing Solutions at Facebook Fabio Freyre, and United States Congressman Albio Sires.

Required Reading

As an organization, we’ve compiled some of our preferred readings that are not traditionally circulated in formal academic settings; nonetheless, we believe they are critical to leadership development. Examples include The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People, by Stephen Covey, How to win friends and influence people, by Dale Carnegie, and more.
